The Minister of Health, Omar Al-Taher, said that the ministry will provide urgent support to the Department of Pediatric Oncology at the Tripoli Medical Center.

The statement was made during his visit to the Department where he got a brief on the level of medical services that the children receive there.

Al-Tahir explained that the support will include drugs for tumour treatment and other medical supplies, in addition to finding quick solutions to the shortage of nursing staff.

The Department of Pediatric Oncology provides treatment services for over 70% of the child tumour cases in Libya.

Libya's hospitals have been suffering from shortages of medicines and medical equipment for almost two years, in addition to the departure of foreign medical assistants due to the faltering economic and security situation as well as the political and administrative division in the country.
