The Ministry of Health Wednesday began its preparatory meetings for launching a workshop aimed at developing the emergency medical system in public hospitals.

The program, which will run for six to eight weeks, is being implemented in cooperation with the Medical Specialties Council.

According to the Health Ministry, the program would help organize the work of emergency departments considering it "an unprecedented leap" in the field of emergency medicine.

Preparing treatment protocols and training doctors of emergency medicine is an overriding goal for the ministry, the statement explained.

The ministry indicated that the workshop would address issues, such as the lack of protocols and mechanism of action for emergency medicine in Libya besides the poor performance and services in this sector.
