The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has expressed his concern about the armed clashes that took place in the cities of Tripoli and Misrata during the past two days, which left several casualties among Libyan civilians, considering this as a “worrying matter”.

Jamal Rushdie, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, said that Aboul Gheit urged the competent Libyan authorities to take the necessary measures to restore security.

He also called on all political actors to assume their responsibilities towards unifying the institutions of the Libyan state, particularly the military and security institutions, as an important step of restoring stability to Libya.
