A verbal altercation at the Benghazi Medical Centre has developed into an exchange of fire that caused extreme panic among the staff, patients and visitors of the centre.

Sources from the centre said that one of the involved parties began shooting randomly at the entrance of the emergency department, resulting in injury to at least two people who were present at the time.

The shooter, who has been identified as a military person, was arrested by security guards and was referred to investigation, according to the source.

 The injured people received medical treatment before leaving the hospital.
