The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, has discussed with the head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khaled Al-Mishri, ways to overcome the remaining issues in the draft legal framework for the elections prepared by the 6 + 6 committee.

This came during their meeting, Thursday, in Tripoli, where Bathily reiterated the UN’s commitment to assist in mediating a political compromise in relation to the electoral framework and other contentious issues to enable the country to move forward as soon as possible.

The meeting also dealt with the road map proposal for the executive path of electoral laws, and ways to find solutions that achieve stability in Libya and lead to responding to the aspirations of the Libyan people to hold parliamentary and presidential elections based on the results of the work of the (6 + 6) committee, according to the HCS media office.
