Farmers in the Municipality of Brak Al-Shati, south of Libya, have reported the presence of two types of locusts, Desert and African green, on multiple farms in the area.
A statement by the Department of Environmental Sanitation Affairs said the Agricultural Pest Control Unit investigated the sites after receiving complaints about the locust infestation, which caused damage to the crops of over ten farmers and continues to spread.
The department noted that it had summoned a team to scrutinize the pest and initiated procedures in collaboration with the Office of Agriculture and Animal Health to address the issue.
