The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has announced the release of six Egyptians detained in an illegal immigration center in western Libya, after trying to immigrate to the Italian coast.

"According to information received from our embassy in Tripoli, the six Egyptians detained in Libya have been released, and we are following up their safe return to the homeland, God willing," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zaid said in a tweet.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that the embassy in Tripoli had contacted the competent Libyan authorities, in order to intervene to release the six detained Egyptians, who left Egypt with travel permits stipulating their presence only in eastern Libya.
