Libya's ambassador to the United Nations, Taher El Sonni, discussed with the Russian counterpart, Vasily Nebenzya, in New York on Wednesday the developments in Libya and the challenges facing the political track as well as the electoral process.

El Sonni said on Twitter that the meeting was within the framework of Russia's presidency of the Security Council this month and prior to the special session on Libya on April 18.

The two ambassadors also discussed the role Russia can play to support stability in Libya, and the importance of joint action to support the will of Libyans to end the crisis and all kinds of external intervention.
