A mass fire erupted in the Maradah district northeastern Libya, damaging an area of two square kilometers covered with around 1000 palm trees.

Firefighters were battling the fire with only one fire engine and struggled for two constant days before extinguishing the blaze.

The National Safety Authority confirmed that the fire was controlled by local firefighters with the assistance of fire brigades from the nearby oil fields, including teams from the Sirte, Al-Bayda, The Gulf, and Haruj companies. No statements were made regarding the cause of the fire.

The photos released from the scene showed the fire crew working with limited capacity and lack of appropriate protective clothing or gears. Luckily, no fatalities were reported but a firefighter was hurt while battling the blaze.
