The Supreme Committee for Monitoring Illegal Immigration and Borders convened on Monday to deliberate on the national strategy to combat illegal immigration.
A statement by the Ministry of Justice on Facebook said the meeting focused on creating a centralized database to gather information on the number of immigrants, their countries of origin, as well as the modes, routes, and patterns employed in the practice of illegal immigration.
During the meeting, Minister of Justice Halima Abdul Rahman underscored the necessity of developing a comprehensive strategy to uphold national sovereignty, accompanied by stringent laws that prohibit illegal entry and emphasize the criminal consequences of engaging in such activities.
