The High Council of State (HCS) said the selection of new governor for the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) is not only a violation of the Libyan Political Agreement but also is a complication of the current political issue in Libya, adding in a statement that the unilateral decision needs going back to Article 15 of the LPA to be fixed.

It added that it is ready to form a committee to select sovereign posts’ incumbents, calling on the House of Representatives to form a similar one.

It indicated that it is looking for uniting the institution without regard to persons, “but the base for that should be legal.”
