A number of human rights organizations expressed their concern regarding the escalation of the military threat on the invasion of Derna by what they described as the armed groups of Dignity Operation.
In a statement, the organizations denounced what they called the suspicious silence of the Presidential Council in light of this escalation.
The statement called on the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, to shoulder his responsibility and take an urgent stand at the Security Council and call for an emergency session to protect civilians and immediately end the siege on the city.
