The Italian Ministry of Interior announced on Friday, that the flow of illegal immigrants from Libya has increased by 75.8% since the beginning of 2022, considering that the continued internal instability in Libya is a decisive factor in the growth of the phenomenon.

The ministry said in a statement that 79,647 illegal immigrants have reached the Italian coasts in 2,044 disembarkations since the beginning of the year, according to the Italian Nova news agency.

The statement attributed this rise to the increase in the number of arrivals from Libya, Tunisia and Turkey, which are the main departure countries for illegal immigrants.

The Italian authorities pointed out that inflows from Tunisia increased by 25.9% to October 26, compared to the same period last year, while the number of immigrants coming from Turkey since the beginning of the year has also increased by 43% compared to the same period.
