The new Italian ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, announced on Friday, the start of his duties, succeeding Giuseppe Buccino.

The new Italian ambassador said: “Today I start my duties as Italian ambassador to Libya. I will work with enthusiasm and determination to continue to strengthen the deep relations of friendship and cooperation between Italy and Libya and to consolidate peace and prosperity in this country that is very dear and close to us.”

“Gianluca Alberini”, was born in 1968. Previously, he was a second commercial secretary at the Italian embassy in Tripoli in 1999, then he was appointed Consul General in Istanbul until 2014, after which he left Turkey to the United States to occupy the position of first advisor to the Director General for Political and Security Affairs and Deputy Director General for Political and Security Affairs and Central Director of the United Nations and Human Rights.
