Libyan authorities have detained a Libyan citizen and two foreign nationals on charges of human trafficking and migrant smuggling in northern Kufra, according to the Office of the Attorney General.
The arrests followed a raid by the Illegal Immigration Control Authority on a facility allegedly used to detain migrants and conduct trafficking operations.
The suspects are accused of unlawfully detaining migrants, subjecting them to torture, and exposing them to inhumane treatment. During the operation, 76 migrants were freed from forced captivity, and 28 bodies were discovered buried near the site.
The Attorney General's Office has initiated forensic investigations to determine the causes of death and is documenting testimonies from rescued victims.
