A number of residents of the city of Tarhuna have appealed to the government to quickly intervene to release three members of Tarhuna tribe detained in Niger.

The people said in a protest in Tarhuna that the detainees entered Nigerien territory by mistake during a hunting trip in the southern region, calling on all concerned parties in the Libyan state to contact the Nigerien authorities to release them.

In a video circulated on social media last week showed three Libyan young men being detained by gunmen after they entered Nigerien territory.
