The Libyan Centre for Press Freedom launched on Saturday an initiative entitled "The Structural Reform of the Libyan Media Sector" in the presence of representatives of Libyan official media, journalists and academics from Libyan universities and in partnership with the International Media Support Organization.

The Executive Director of the Centre, Mohammed Al-Najem, reviewed the details of the initiative based on a roadmap for reforming the sector in accordance with the Centre's vision to activate the role of the official media in order to guarantee the independence of the editorial bodies and the quality of the press content.

The initiative also includes the establishment of a higher council for media in accordance with the draft Libyan constitution.
