The Libyan Public Prosecution said it had filed a lawsuit against a Somalian smuggler and five other people for crimes against immigrants and trafficking them on boats via the Mediterranean.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office said they had started preliminary investigation which showed that those persons had been involved in a form of organized crime.

It said the involved persons used threats to traffic immigrants, in addition to killing tens of others and arbitrarily detained and then tortured several immigrants, getting in return financial profits.

“These investigations showed that the traffickers are linked with others in neighboring countries and countries that have cross-border criminal ideologies.
