Vice President of the Presidential Council (PC), Ahmed Maiteeq, said that the IRINE Naval Operation, set up to monitor the arms embargo on Libya, is insufficient and fails to observe air control and eastern land borders, which according to international reports, are being used to supply arms to Haftar’s forces.

Maiteeq added, during his meeting with the Italian Ambassador to Libya Giuseppe Buccino in Tripoli, that the European Union (EU), did not consult the Government of National Accord (GNA), before making its decision.

For his part, Buccino indicated that his country would work with Germany and some other EU countries on achieving balance to ensure impartial implementation of the Operation.
