The Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity said the country’s major oil fields and ports are still closed and negotiations for their reopening are ongoing.

Mohammed Oun told local media outlets that Libya currently produces 600,000 bpd of oil with a loss of between 600,000 and 650,000 bpd because of the closures, causing a financial loss of around 60 million dollar daily.

Oun assured that gas production was not affected by the closures, confirming that the current output is 250 million cubic meters per day.

He added that he had not been contacted by European countries to request an increase in gas production and export from Libya despite the current global demand for gas.
