The National Oil Corporation (NOC) confirmed the forced disappearance of two of its employees on Sunday morning in Tripoli, namely, Khaled Al-Ati, the head of the Petroleum Institute’s management committee, and another employee of Akakus Oil Operations Company, Medhat Al-Zayani.
The NOC said, in a statement, that whatever the motives for the forced disappearance, whether allegedly arrested or kidnapped, it condemns this act and denounces all and any harm to any of its employees without the express permission of the Public Prosecution, demanding their immediate release and to hold the perpetrators responsible for their safety.
The corporation confirmed that it will resort to all possible legal means, saying it is presently in the process of addressing the Office of the Public Prosecutor with regard to the matter.
