The United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, on Monday, welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached by all Libyan parties, describing it as a ‘courageous step.’

Pompeo also added in a statement, posted on the State Department’s website, “It is important that all parties support the talks which took place under the guidance of the United Nations (UN) in Geneva.”

He went on to praise the terms of the agreement, one of which was specifically aimed at all ‘foreign fighters’ leaving the country within a three-month period, adding that “the Libyans should be left to decide their own future.”
