The Central Committee for Municipal Councils Elections announced the opening of the voters' registration in Tobruk city, east of Libya.

"Citizens can register by sending a text message with their national number and the electoral centre number, to a specified phone number put for this purpose," the committee said in a statement yesterday.

The head of the steering council of the municipality of Tobruk, Faraj Boualkhatabiya announced his resignation on Tuesday, due to tribal disputes in the city, before retreating on his decision Wednesday night, after tribal pressure as well.
