Ras Ajdair border's security directorate confirmed the death of a medical patient - a Libyan citizen - while traveling to Tunisia to receive treatment.
The directorate denied on its Facebook page the accuracy of the news that said the death was due to traffic congestion. It explained that the patient was not in an ambulance, but rather a regular car, adding that his companions did not report the presence of a medical case among them, noting that the border administration had allocated a special lane for urgent medical cases.
The directorate added that it had asked the companions about their failure to report the presence of a medical case among them, and they attributed this to the fact that it was not serious and did not suffer from any symptoms. It stressed that the process of vehicles crossing the border did not exceed three hours, adding that the traffic congestion was caused by the narrowness of the crossing on the Tunisian side.
