The employees of Sabha University have announced that they will stage a sit-in starting from next Sunday.

"The strike comes in solidarity with the employees of Libyan universities because of the disregard of the Education Committee of the House of Representatives to their rights and legitimate demands," the Workers’ Union of Sabha branch said in a statement.

The University's staff stressed that their strike will not suspend university classes to preserve the right of students to continue their studies.

Libyan university staff entered mid-November a labour strike to demand better salaries and health insurance, in addition to other benefits.
