The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Sarraj, held talks with the African Union Commissioner for Social Affairs, Amira ElFadil, in Tripoli on Monday.

ElFadil stressed the readiness of the African Commission to support the government in Libya in providing better care for migrants, and to detect smugglers and traffickers wherever they are, inside or outside Libya.

For his part, Sarraj stressed the keenness of his government to strengthen their relations with the African Union. He pointed out that recent media outlets that depicted the ill-treatment of migrants on Libyan territory should and will be investigated by the relevant authorities, adding that these actions are carried out by individuals and does not represent the morals or standards of the Libyan people and their tolerant Islamic religion.
