The Kufra Security Directorate announced on Wednesday the release of 21 individuals of African nationalities who had been held hostage in the Rabiana area.
According to the directorate’s statement, the victims were kidnapped and held by a criminal group that demanded a ransom in exchange for their release.
The security forces moved in the early hours of the morning via desert roads, successfully surrounding and raiding the targeted location, and freeing the hostages without any injuries.
The released individuals were transported to the Kufra Security Directorate to complete the necessary legal procedures, while investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators and take legal action against them, according to the statement.
