Takala

Mohamed Takala, Head of the High Council of State, has said that Libya may see presidential elections very soon with the ongoing efforts aimed at resolving the dispute on the relevant laws.

Takala is currently visiting Russia as part of efforts to discuss solutions to the situation in Libya and to consult with international parties to speed up the general elections process, according to the Russian News Agency (TASS).

Recently, the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, called on Libyan political forces to an expanded meeting in Morocco to debate the obstacles hindering the path to elections.

However, the invitation was rejected by the House of Representatives and its government in the east. Instead, they called for the formation of a unified government that would prepare the country for elections.
