More than 30 illegal immigrants died on Saturday after their boat sank off Qaraboulli town, some 60 km east of Tripoli, Libya Coastguard reports.

The Coastguard also rescued more than 200 migrants onboard a rubber boat off the same town.

A source from the Coastguard said the boat sank due to overcrowding. More than 40 migrants are still missing.

Meanwhile, a Coastguard patrol intercepted 115 migrants off Khoms city while enroute to Italy on Saturday. The migrants were brought to Misrata Port and handed over to the city’s detention center.
