The Director of Dams Department at the Ministry of Water Resources of the Government of National Unity, Omar Al-Maghrabi, said, “Three dams will be built during the coming period in Derna.”
He explained in press statements that several companies will be contracted to build the new dams without disclosing them or specifying their cost.
Al-Maghrabi added that there are two reasons for the collapse of the Derna dams: the first is the lack of sufficient budgets during the past years, and the second is related to the technical aspect, which is failure of the foreign company implementing the two dams to return to carry out its work in Libya.
