The UN Security Council will vote Next Thursday, on a draft resolution to renew the mandate of member states, working at the national level or through regional organizations, to combat illegal immigration in Libya for one year, in accordance with Resolution No. 2240 issued on October 9, 2015.

The draft resolution authorizes member states to inspect and blockade ships in international waters off the coast of Libya that are suspected of being used for migrant smuggling or human trafficking, following closed consultations conducted by the Council, as reported by the Security Council Report website on Friday.
