The University of Tripoli Students’ Union has called on the university presidency and the Ministry of Higher Education of the Government of National Unity to dismiss the Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs at the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Examinations Committee and to open an investigation into the death of a female student after she was forced to take the exam despite her health condition.

In a statement, the Union of Students described what happened as a “violation of human rights” at the Faculty of Pharmacy and “extremism in the regulations” without understanding the provisions of Regulation 501, the spirit of the law, and the absence of reason and wisdom from those who have a responsibility to judge and decline medical excuses, according to the statement.

The Union held the Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Pharmacy responsible for the incident, adding that they had received many complaints of ill-treatment and intimidation contrary to purposes of science and learning, according to their statement.
