The UN Security Council (UNSC) has announced that it will hold its monthly briefing on the situation in Libya during the month of December, as the Charge d'Affairs of the UN mission, Stephanie Koury, will brief the Council on the recent political, security and humanitarian developments in the country.
A statement by the Security Council during the announcement highlighted the ongoing political impasse in Libya, in addition to the increasing differences between the Government of National Unity government led by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and the parallel government appointed by the House of Representatives led by Osama Hammad.
The statement pointed out that the briefing will discuss one of the main points of contention regarding the formation of a unified interim government to organize the elections.
