The US State Department has announced that US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, held telephone talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, regarding coordination in support of the UN envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily in mediating the path of holding successful elections in Libya.

The US State Department also said in a statement that these discussions dealt with joint efforts to enhance regional stability related to the situation in Libya, Sudan, the Middle East region, the Palestinian file, and the Renaissance Dam crisis with Ethiopia.

For his part, Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Ahmed Abu Zeid, stated that the consultations touched on bilateral relations and a number of regional and international issues of common interest, in order to coordinate positions and cooperate to find effective and sustainable solutions to the various crises and challenges facing the region.
