The Special Envoy of the United States to Libya Richard Norland congratulated the Republic of Congo's President Sassou N’Guesso for convening, with the participation of the Head of Presidential Council's Mohammed Menfi and distinguished regional leaders, an important meeting of the African Union’s High-Level Panel on Libya in support of the political process and national reconciliation in Libya.
"This event reinforces the efforts of the [UN envoy Abdoulaye Bathily] to launch political negotiations with key stakeholders. The US looks forward to the National Reconciliation Conference scheduled to take place April 28 in Sirte." Norland said, according to a statement by the US embassy in Libya on X platform.
The US Special Envoy also said that national and local reconciliation remain a central focus for American assistance under the US Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability.
