President Mohammed Menfi of the Presidential Council (PC) met with the Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Mohammed Takala, on Monday to discuss the progress of the Higher Financial Committee.

The meeting followed HCS’s rejection of the 2024 General Budget Law, which the House of Representatives approved in favour of the parallel government.

On the table was the developments of the political track, including ways to address the political deadlock and bridge the gap between Libyan parties.

According to Menfi's media office, both parties emphasized the role of the Higher Financial Committee in achieving stability in Libya.

For its part, the HCS media office noted that Takala discussed the financial situation and spending priorities with Menfi in accordance with the Political Agreement after the High Council of State rejected the parallel government's budget.
