Dbeibah

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has called on the Libyan people to reject the Parliament Speaker's recent decision to tax foreign currency.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the first Ramadan Season Festivities in Misrata on Friday, Dbeibah emphasized the importance of citizens voicing their opposition and demanding accountability of those responsible for the decision.

"Libyans are experiencing freedom and democracy, where citizens have the right to criticize anyone anywhere," the PM said.

Dbeibah indicated that the decision was to conceal billions lost from the Central Bank's accounts and to offset the losses from "the pockets of hardworking Libyan citizens."

He underscored that during his office, 80% of Libya's income benefits its citizens, while 20% is directed to infrastructure and development. The PM expressed the difficulty of resisting alone and called for collective action to oppose the decision.
