The UN Envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, affirmed on Monday his commitment to involving all Libyan factions in resolving the country's political crisis and addressing contentious issues urgently.
Bathily's remarks came during a meeting in Tripoli with a delegation comprising dignitaries, security, and military leaders from Misrata, as per a statement by the UN mission on Facebook.
The UN official emphasized the urgent need for a responsible political solution to address all contentious issues and agree on a new unified government to lead the country to elections, enhancing peace, stability, and prosperity.
He commended the Misrata delegation for supporting comprehensive settlement efforts, including inclusive national reconciliation.
The mission said the meeting is part of Bathily's efforts to garner support for the UN-facilitated political process aimed at achieving the long-awaited presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya.
