The UN Envoy Abdoulaye Bathily and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/ Vice President of the EU Commission, Josep Borrel, discussed the situation in Libya during a meeting in Brussels on Thursday.

"We exchanged views on the political process in Libya and discussed the impact of flooding on Derna & surrounding areas," Bathily wrote on X platform.

The UN envoy called on international partners, including the EU, to speak with one voice in support of the political process to maintain Libya's unity and territorial integrity.

He underscored the need for a joint assessment of the reconstruction needs of storm-affected areas to ensure maximum accountability in the reconstruction resource management.

Additionally, Bathily renewed his call for inclusive elections to legitimise and unify political, military, and security institutions, in line with the aspiration of the Libyan people for peace and stability, according to his statement on X.
