Libyan Coast Guard, Central Region Branch, intercepted on Tuesday a ship smuggling oil off Zuwara coast with a crew of four Egyptian smugglers.
The ship, which flies the Maltese and Amazigh’s flags, was intercepted with a load of 200 thousand liters of gasoline waiting yet to be loaded with additional other 60 thousand liters of gasoline before it leaves the Libyan water heading toward Malta.
Sources from the Libyan Coast Guard said that the ship was loaded with fuel by a trawler from Zuwara city, and that the ship was eventually taken to Misrata port for more investigations.
Last week, a Maltase national, an Algerian, a Syrian and two Egyptians were caught-red-handed onboard an oil tanker by the Coast Guard off Al-Zawiya shores while they were attempting to smuggle diesel fuel outside Libya.
