Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah received at his office on Monday the French President's special envoy, Paul Soler.

The PM media office said the meeting touched upon efforts towards elections and government spending.

Dbeibah stressed his government's keenness to provide a secure and stable environment to make the upcoming elections a success through fair and impartial voting laws.

They also reviewed government spending during the first half of this year, in which the PM emphasized that they would continue "the fair distribution of spending to all citizens," saying that more than 80% of spending is being distributed directly and equally to all citizens regardless of their regions.

For his part, the French envoy conveyed the greetings of President Emmanuel Macron, stressing Paris' support for the Government of National Unity and France's keenness to continue cooperation with the GNU on the election file.

This is the second visit of the French President's envoy to Tripoli in less than a month. His first trip was on 8-9 June, where he met with the Head of the Presidential Council, Muhammad Menfi, and Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Manqoush.
