Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday discussed in a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the existing situation in Libya.

The Egyptian presidency said, in a statement, that the discussions reflected a consensus on the importance of intensifying efforts and mutual coordination between Egypt and Russia to settle the Libyan crisis and achieve the desired aspirations of the Libyan people for a better future.

They also touched upon the issue of combating and disbanding armed militias and terrorist organizations and putting an end to "illegal" foreign interference in Libya.

For his part, Sisi affirmed Egypt's continued efforts and endeavors to bridge the differences between the "Libyan brothers" and help them choose their leaders and representatives through free will to cross the transitional phase.
