The spokesman of the Third Force that is securing Libya’s south, Mohammed Gliwan, said they are in full control of Gwerat Al-Mal checkpoint at the southern main road to Sabha from Brak Al-Shatti’s side.

“We clashed for some hours with armed groups and then everything remained the same as before under the Third Force’s control.” Gliwan said, adding that there are some efforts to destabilize the southern region, denying the “false news” that is aired by pro-Haftar media outlets saying their forces in control of Sabha main road and Tamnahent airport.

A force led by Ben Nayel attacked the checkpoint near Sabha and attempted to control it, Gliwan indicated, pinpointing that the Third Force fighters thwarted the attack and destroyed a military vehicle for the pro-Haftar’s Dignity Operation armed group before it had run away.

He stressed that the Third Force and the supporting forces in the region have a grip firm on the Tamnahent Airport as well as all of its surrounding towns nearby Sabha, reaffirming that they have declared the state of emergency in the south in order to be ready for any looming security challenges.
