The High Council of State (HCS) hosted a meeting Monday grouping HCS members headed by the council's deputy head, Naji Mukhtar, and representatives of the Libyan Party Caucuses.

A statement by the HCS media office listed the meeting under the frame of communication with the political community and actors.

The group of politicians said the meeting was "an important precedent that will have a positive impact on the political scene in Libya," as they presented an initiative to help move the political process forward.

For their part, the HCS representatives welcomed the initiative and asked for a period to review the plan comprehensively.

The two sides also agreed to form a joint committee to study the initiative and the constitutional basis and hold future meetings to coordinate political positions.
