Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Omran Al-Qayeb, received the Spanish Ambassador to Libya, Javier Larache, on Monday to discuss cooperation to introduce Spanish language classes for Libyan students.

The meeting touched on collaboration between Libyan and Spanish universities and the possibility of the Cervantes Institute opening a centre in Libya.

The Spanish government-run institution has 88 centres across 45 countries devoted to promoting the study and teaching of the Spanish language and culture.

They also reviewed the possibility of opening an office to facilitate procedures for Libyan students in Spain.

On his part, the Spanish ambassador spoke of "the special status and good reputation of Libyans in the eyes of the Spanish people."

Minister Al-Qayeb handed the ambassador an official invitation addressed to his Spanish counterpart to visit Libya shortly.
