The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, accompanied by the Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush, Designated Minister of Interior Emad Al-Trabelsi, Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Ellafi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation Farhat Bengdara, and the Head of the Libyan Holding Company for Telecommunications, arrived Wednesday at the headquarters of the Italian government in Rome, where they were received by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and a number of senior Italian officials.
Dbeibah's media office said that the Libyan delegation held a meeting with the Italian government officials and the two sides signed memoranda of understanding in the fields of oil and natural gas, joint investment in the submerged areas in the Mediterranean basin and in the land areas in the Ghadames basin, electrical interconnection, immigration and border protection, activating the contracts for water and sewage treatment plants, and an agreement to link Libya with Italy by the submarine cable.
The meeting discussed the follow-up of the work of the bilateral committees to lift the airspace embargo on Libyan civil aviation in Italy and with a set deadline, and the necessary steps to establish the Libyan-Italian Higher Committee, in addition to the convening of the Libyan-Italian Economic Forum on the sidelines of the committee's first meeting.
Meanwhile, Dbeibah stressed the need to take actual steps to facilitate the granting of visas to Libyan citizens, indicating the importance of bilateral relations and supporting and developing them in all fields in order to achieve the common interests of the two peoples.
