The National Oil Corporation (NOC) said on Monday it would deliver an aid convoy to Derna east of Libya via its OSU 25 sea tanker.

The city located some 900 km east of Tripoli, was one of the most storm-hit areas, as images filmed by locals showed wrecked streets and entire neighbourhoods underwater.

The tanker was scheduled to depart on Monday night from Tripoli's Al-Shaab Sea Port and should arrive Tuesday in Derna.

The NOC expressed readiness to cooperate with all charities, relief organizations, and civil society movements wishing to send aid to the affected cities in eastern Libya.

It may be worth noting that the NOC declared a "state of maximum alert" and suspended flights between oil production sites, where activity has been drastically reduced.
