The US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, has discussed with High State Council committees efforts to establish a constitutional basis for the elections.

In a statement on the US embassy account on Twitter on Saturday, Norland said he discussed means to restore momentum for presidential and parliamentary elections besides the importance of the government's ability to support the elections and find a solution to the political crisis in the country.

"We are encouraged that the HSC appointed representatives to a constitutional dialogue committee," Ambassador Norland said.

The HCS had elected 12 members to represent it in the joint committee proposed by the UN Special Adviser on Libya, Stephanie Williams, to establish a constitutional basis that would enable the holding of elections.
