The National Institution for Human Rights in Libya condemned in a statement the contents being published across various Libyan advertising platforms directed against immigrants and immigrant workers.
The Institution said that calls for the expulsion of foreign workers carry a message of incitement to discrimination and fuel feelings and a spirit of hatred and hostility, adding that they constitute a serious violation of the rights of foreigners present on Libyan territory.
The organization called for the necessity of regulating the presence of foreign and immigrant workers on Libyan territory, using legal and humane methods through the Ministries of Labor and Rehabilitation, Interior and Economy, the Anti-Illegal Immigration Authority, and the Passports, Citizenship and Foreigners Affairs Authority.
A number of activists called for expelling or imposing taxes on foreigners in the country and for regulating the process of their recruitment and residence in the country.
