The Indonesian Embassy in Tripoli celebrated Indonesia’s 79th National Day with a dinner event focused on exploring how Libya can benefit from enhanced cooperation with Indonesia.
The event was attended by key figures, including Mohamed Al-Ghoul, a representative from the Government of National Unity, and Mohamed Al-Raied, President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, among other guests.
Dedi Rifa’i, Acting Chargé d’Affaires at the Indonesian Embassy, welcomed attendees and underscored the importance of the event in deepening the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
In his address, Rifa’i highlighted Indonesia’s impressive economic growth, citing IMF projections that place Indonesia on track to become the world’s fifth-largest economy by 2045, with an anticipated GDP nearing $10 trillion and a per capita GDP of around $29,000.
Currently, Indonesia ranks 16th globally, with a GDP of $1.3 trillion and a per capita GDP exceeding $5,000.
Rifa’i also discussed the potential benefits for Libya in collaborating with Indonesia, particularly in rapidly developing industries such as agriculture and aviation. Notably, Libyan companies, including Esco, Ghadames, and Fly Oya, have shown interest in acquiring the Indonesian-made CN-235 aircraft, signalling growing cooperation in the aviation sector.
Meanwhile, Al-Ghoul commended Indonesia’s recent economic achievements and expressed his government’s desire to strengthen ties across various sectors. On his part, Al-Raied echoed this sentiment, expressing admiration for Indonesia’s economic advancements and the interest of Libyan businesses in expanding trade relations with the Southeast Asian nation.
The event also served as a precursor to Indonesia’s upcoming annual “Trade Expo Indonesia,” set to take place near Jakarta from October 9 to 12.
